With rumours surrounding the possible departure of Uruguayan international Darwin Nunez and the influence of Egyptian international Mohamed Salah, who will turn 33 this June, Liverpool have a new attacker on their list.
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, France international Marcus Thuram, who plays for Inter Milan, is on the radar of Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain. The report also states that a release clause of €85 million exists.
Meanwhile, the 27-year-old striker has also assured that he will not be making a transfer offer, and at the very least, nothing is likely to happen in the transfer market this winter.
His contract with Borussia Monchengladbach expires after the 2022/23 season. On a free transfer, he joins Inter Milan. After scoring 15 goals and 14 assists in 46 games in his first season, he has been a mainstay as a centre-forward this season, scoring 13 goals and taking six assists in 22 games so far.
The 27-year-old striker, who has also scored two goals in 29 games for France, will turn 28 this August, so he may be a little older than Liverpool’s target requirements. With no immediate need to acquire him now, it is unlikely that they would set their sights on a player with a high transfer fee and an advanced age.
The French forward is under contract with Inter until June 2028, but will he be willing to leave behind his successful Italian life and walk into a challenge in England or France…?
