After showing extraordinary talent at Fulham, then 16-year-old Harvey Elliot moved to Liverpool in the summer of 2019, a club he had supported since he was a small child. Manager Jurgen Klopp gave the young gem a first-team squad spot and made him feel world-class from the bench.

The following season, he spent time on loan at Blackburn, where he returned to Liverpool in full force after an impressive Championship campaign. Despite a positional change from right winger to midfielder, he fulfilled the role required of him and became an indispensable member of the team.

However, with the appointment of Arne Slot as head coach, and after injuries hampered his dash to start the season, his playing time was slow to develop. This led to rumours of a move to Brighton or Borussia Dortmund, but the player himself completely denied leaving.

According to Football Insider, the Merseyside club are considering a contract extension with the 21-year-old midfielder and are preparing to start talks on a new deal.

In recent games, he has given the strong impression that his condition has improved, as he has been involved in chance-making from midway through the game.

In the Champions League match against LOSC Lille, he contributed to the team’s unbeaten run by scoring the winner despite a change of course after hitting an opponent.

He can play on the left or right wing and is a player that the coach would like to have in the team. He is still only 21 years old and has a lot of potential, so it is unlikely that Liverpool will let him go at this point in his career, and he will be in regular contention for the next season and beyond.

Will the England U-21 midfielder, who is under contract until June 2027, sign a long-term deal?
