Newcastle United forward Anthony Gordon was reportedly linked with a possible move to Liverpool during EURO 2024 back in the summer of last year.
Concrete negotiations were held between the two clubs, but as a result no agreement was reached and nothing happened.
The 23-year-old winger, who left Everton for a new home in the north of England in January 2023, uses his menacing speed to cut up the opposition’s right flank. He is adept at getting behind the final line and makes his presence felt on the counter.
The England attacker, who is also a superb athletic defender, is known as a Liverpool fan. Danny Murphy, who used to play at Anfield, has hinted at a future move, saying he would eventually play for the team he has supported since he was a small child.
“It’s been reported that Anthony Gordon is a Liverpool fan so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him at the club a few years down the line.”
“Having said that, he will cost in the region of £80million I imagine and Newcastle will want to protect their assets and he is one of them.”
“He has said how much he loves the club and I don’t think it’s possible at the moment, but could happen in the future.”

As the former Liverpool midfielder pointed out, a hefty transfer fee is required. It was one of the reasons why negotiations were not concluded, so it is not a problem that can be solved immediately.
And with Liverpool’s strong winger line-up, there is no great need to spend a lot of money. If Mohamed Salah does not agree to a contract extension and Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez leave the club, there is a possibility of a quick swap, but the odds are not high at the moment.
Will the Liverpool-born attacker ever take to the pitch at Anfield, even in his late 20s…?
