Talks are ongoing between Liverpool and Egyptian international Mohamed Salah to remain at Anfield next season. However, no agreement has been reached at this stage and an official announcement will be made by the club.
Egyptian King is enjoying a season that some consider to be better than his prime, and continues to contribute to his team’s victories with a number of goals and assists. He is also well conditioned, and opposing left-backs spend a lot of time struggling to cope.
The veteran winger has not given up his ace in the hole since the days of Jurgen Klopp, but negotiations for a new contract are not going well. The former Roma winger has turned down the latest offer, Egyptian outlet Masrawy reported.
Salah wants to commit his future for at least two years, possibly three. He is also not willing to give up his current terms and wants a salary equivalent to his current contract and a multi-year deal at the same time.
Liverpool, on the other hand, are cautious about signing the Egyptian attacker, who will be 33 years old this June, and have reported that reconciling their wishes with those of the player’s side is a major bottleneck.
Although he is getting the best out of this season, there is no denying the possibility of a dip in form in the following season. No matter how fit he is, age is no match for a human being, and as the top paid player in the team, the owners cannot afford to make any big deals.
Fortunately, both sides have made it their number one priority to stay and talks are ongoing. With less than six months left on his contract, the supporters are not too happy.
So what will happen to the right winger, who has made Anfield history…?
