Nottingham Forest defender Murillo eyes Liverpool move if there is an inter-club agreement Transfers

Nottingham Forest are still going strong, having leapt to third place in the Premier League. Up front, Chris Wood explodes in front of goal, a squad of powerful and counter-orientated attackers closes in on the opposition goal, and in midfield, midfielders who can run up and down the field until the end of the game.

The centre-backs, who are responsible for the third fewest goals conceded in the league, also attract a lot of attention. Along with Serbian defender Nikola Milenkovic, Brazilian defender Murillo continues to repel opposition attacks in the final line.

Despite his first Premier League challenge last season, his impressive performances attracted the interest of a number of strong clubs and there was reported interest from Liverpool, who were looking for a successor to Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk during the transfer window last summer.

According to CaughtOffside, the 22-year-old centre-back, who is also keen on other clubs such as Real Madrid, would be open to a move to Anfield if only Liverpool and Nottingham Forest could agree a transfer fee.

The Reds will not pay easily, as the asking price is reportedly £80 million. His technique with his feet, his passing and his dribbling lift are all high points for a modern centre-back, and although he is not tall, he does not look weak in aerial duels and shows absolute strength in defending against opponents.

He has been a consistent performer in the top flight for two consecutive years and could be considered for a step up if his club were to lose form and miss out on the Champions League.

Liverpool, who do not have a generous budget, are unlikely to spend big, and if the Dutch defender were to extend his contract, this would be even less likely. Nevertheless, reinforcements at left-back and left-sided centre-back are high priorities, and cheaper players could be flown in.

So will the 22-year-old defender, who is contributing to the revival of an old club, stay at the City Ground next season, or will he make a move to another club…?
