Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk are in their early 30s and are approaching the veteran stage. Both players wish to continue playing at Anfield and discussions were underway. Reports are circulating that an offer has been presented by the club.
According to Anfield Edition, the Egyptian international and the Dutch defender have already agreed new contracts, but are refraining from making an official announcement to avoid controversy over England defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is still on the fence with Real Madrid.
“We understand that both Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk have put pen to paper on new deals to extend their stay at Liverpool.”
“Liverpool, who remain tight lipped on the situation, want to avoid putting the limelight on Trent Alexander-Arnold — who is yet to agree a new deal.”

If the reports are true, this is great news for Liverpool supporters. Despite their age, they remain key players in the team and both could play at the top level in the next two years or so.
It would be a great ending if an agreement could also be reached with Alexander-Arnold, who is only 26 years old and a local player, but what will be the fate of these players as their contracts approach expiry…?
