After missing out on Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi, Liverpool made a positional change to Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, securing a defensive midfielder.
Nevertheless, they are still looking at players who can be entrusted with the bottom of midfield on an ongoing basis.
At the same time, the club is also focusing on strengthening its academy, with promising youngsters such as Trey Nyoni and Rio Ngumoha recently getting a run in the first team.
To add to that, CaughtOffside reported that Liverpool are interested in Sunderland’s 17-year-old midfielder Chris Rigg.
As well as the Merseyside club, Arsenal and Manchester United are also interested in the player. Despite being only 17 years old, he has made 27 Championship appearances this season and has shown extraordinary potential.
There are other midfielders around the age of 20, including Tyler Morton and James McConnell, but the former is said to be of interest to Championship clubs and is likely to play for another club next season, while the latter is hardly a firm fixture.
Every mega club is in desperate need of young, up-and-coming players. So what sort of career will Sunderland’s promising youngster have in store?
