Liverpool, who topped the league phase of the Champions League, went straight through, avoiding the final tournament play-off. For the last eight, the Reds are set to face Paris Saint-Germain, who are in first place in Ligue 1.
PSG are unbeaten domestically, and have been exploding in recent matches with a vaunted attacking line-up.
In the Champions League play-off against Brest, they scored a total of 10 goals in the two games, dominating the Ligue 1 club. Liverpool have not been lucky in the lottery, but they have the squad to win against the French giants.
Against a Liverpool side that is also doing well in the Premier League, PSG manager Luis Enrique acknowledged the strength of their opponents, but vowed to give his all against one of the top-ranked teams in the world.
“I already know Liverpool very well,”
“Whether it’s Liverpool or the top teams in general, we always have an idea. But after analyzing their performances, I don’t really see a better team.”
“There’s no doubt that since the start of the season, they’ve been the most in-form team in Europe, not only in terms of play and performance but also results.”
“It could very well be a Champions League final, but unfortunately, that won’t be the case. We will do everything we can to give ourselves a real chance and be better than Liverpool. That’s our goal.”
