Liverpool’s search for a defensive midfielder who can rival Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch at the bottom of midfield, led by Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi who they came close to acquiring, has been linked with a number of players.
None of these have led to concrete discussions and the deadline has passed without anyone, let alone a midfielder, joining the club in this winter’s transfer window. Nevertheless, the interest in the talented midfielder has not waned and the Ligue 1 side are keen on him ahead of this summer’s market.
According to Anfield Watch, Liverpool are highly impressed with the ability of Paris Saint-Germain’s French midfielder Warren Zaïre-Emery and are preparing a huge offer to bring him to Anfield.
The 19-year-old midfielder, who has been on the pitch for six games since his debut for France in June 2023, has become a regular in Luis Enrique’s team. He has already played more than 30 games this season and his career is well on its way.
Although not strictly a defensive midfielder, he is often used as a central midfielder, but also plays on the right flank. He has also started in right midfield and as a side-back and is expected to be a gem in the future of the French national team.
He renewed his contract last summer and has until June 2029. And with an extension option attached, it seems unlikely that the Merseyside club will be able to offer a sum that will convince the French club.
There is no waved release clause, and a pure offer would have to be a very high offer. The atmosphere is such that it is likely to end up as a rumour, as no one would pour a lot of money into a player who is not an absolute regular.
Will the French midfielder have a future in the Premier League next season?
