Liverpool are selling Uruguayan international Darwin Nunez and are expected to acquire a new centre-forward. While they are reportedly keen on Newcastle forward Alexander Isak, they are also looking at 22-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitiké.
As far as other targets are concerned, they are aiming for the type of striker who is tall, has good technique with his feet and can work well with others. Scoring in front of goal is a given, and the Frankfurt striker fits that profile, having scored 19 goals throughout the Bundesliga and Europa League.
According to Anfield Watch, Liverpool have already made a move for the player and held discussions with the French striker’s agent in London last week. It also reports that Manchester United and Arsenal were also at the negotiating table.
The German club is expected to demand as much as €80 million, which is enough to be prepared for if the Uruguayan forward can be sold. He is cheaper to acquire than the Swedish forward, who could be asked for almost double the amount.
Liverpool, who are looking to strengthen their front line for Arne Slot’s second season in charge, do not only have Isak and Ekitiké on their list. Benjamin Sesko, Liam Delap and Victor Osimhen have also emerged as other targets.
So who will lead the front line at Anfield next season…?
