In the summer of 2024, when EURO 2024 was being held, Liverpool pursued negotiations to acquire Anthony Gordon, an England international from Newcastle United, who was feared to be in breach of the Profitability and Sustainability Regulations (PSR).

Despite reportedly offering terms for the transfer of Jarell Quansah, Joe Gomez and others, a move did not materialise as the parties could not come to terms on a transfer fee. The north of England club avoided a conflict by selling another player.

Despite his past with Everton, the 23-year-old winger, a Liverpool supporter, is also reported to be open to a move to Anfield. And there could be a scenario where the fast-footed attacker returns to Merseyside once again.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Liverpool have reignited their interest in the England winger, as they did last summer, and could make another attempt in the transfer market this summer.

In 31 appearances this season, the winger has scored nine goals and provided six assists. He has contributed to the team’s victories not only in attack, but also in defence, where he is a committed defender. The team is also battling for the top positions and depending on a result in one game, they could run up the table to qualify for the Europa League.

Gordon’s help will be vital for a late-season push. On the other hand, if they miss out on Champions League qualification for next season, a move should be attractive, and the prospect of playing for a club he has loved since childhood is sure to be exciting.

Can Reds make another offer for the England attacker and reach an agreement between the clubs?
