タイトな日程でスタートした昨シーズン。最終的には優勝したマンチェスター・シティは前半戦では調子が上がらず、監督交代に踏み切ったチェルシーとともに後半戦に向けて、順位を徐々に上げていく展開。
2019/20シーズンには圧倒的な成績でリーグ制覇を成し遂げたリヴァプールは、センターバックに負傷者が相次ぎ本来の良さを出せず、ギリギリで3位フィニッシュ。マンチェスター・ユナイテッドが中盤戦で好調を持続する一方で、レスター・シティはトップ4の座をもっとも長く維持したが、最終節でトッテナムに敗れ、チャンピオンズリーグ出場権を逃してしまった。
ウェストハムやアストン・ビラ、リーズ・ユナイテッドが終始ビッグクラブを脅かし続け、エヴァートンも前半戦では驚異の強さを発揮し、ポテンシャルの高さを感じさせた。トッテナムやアーセナル含め、中位で終えたクラブは上位進出を虎視淡々と狙っている。
チャンピオンシップからは1年で復帰を実現したノリッジ・シティやワトフォードがプレミアリーグ残留を目指す一方で、新進気鋭のブレントフォードにも注目が集まる。
