In addition to Alexis Mac Allister, Liverpool has secured Dominik Szoboszlai. The team is solemnly pushing forward with the restructuring of the midfield, and the remaining piece is a defensive midfielder. For a while, Khéphren Thuram and Romeo Lavia were seen as the top targets, but that is changing.
According to Ben Jacobs, Liverpool have pulled out of negotiations with Nice and called off their move for French U-21 midfielder. The transfer fee is not an issue, and with the Hungarian midfielder on board, the club seems to be concentrating solely on Southampton midfielder, Fabinho’s direct successor.
Understand Liverpool now don’t plan to sign Khephren Thuram following Dominik Szoboszlai’s arrival. Talks NOT taking place with Nice this week. #LFC have explored the deal and price not an obstacle. Thuram available for far less than €60m. Romeo Lavia is the one to watch.🔴 pic.twitter.com/P13hfCVObt

The Nice midfielder is a defensive midfielder who can also be an attacking force, a taller version of former Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, but not a player who can stand firm in front of the backline and nip the opposition in the bud.
Southampton, his club, was relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season, so we may be able to negotiate a transfer fee with a more aggressive approach. The player reportedly wants to leave the club, with Arsenal and Chelsea among the contenders.
Can Liverpool once again strike a “smart” business deal and bring the young Belgian midfielder to Anfield?
