Liverpool intends to make an offer for Belgian midfielder Romeo Lavia Transfers

Jordan Henderson is moving to Saudi Arabia for a new home, and Fabinho is close to a move to the Saudi Professional League. Liverpool has been asked to find his successor, and Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia has long been reported as the most likely candidate.

Liverpool have twice presented formal offers, with the second attempt for a total sum of  £45 million. The Belgian midfielder is said to want to move to Anfield, and Chelsea may enter the fray, according to Ben Jacobs, sports journalist.

“The Chelsea counter is coming. #CFC ready to move for Lavia and even prepared to table a higher offer than #LFC, having bid £50m for him a year ago. But Lavia is still sold on Liverpool. A move to Anfield remains more likely at this stage.”

Liverpool is no match for Chelsea in terms of financial resources. They have released a large number of players and are in the process of laying off personnel to make way for new players, and are steadily building a new team under new coach Mauricio Pochettino. The team has been interested in the 19-year-old defensive midfielder for some time.

If Blues were to join the club in earnest, it is highly likely that Southampton would demand £50 million, as they have done in the past, and may reject a second offer from Liverpool.

Will Liverpool be able to bring in Romeo Lavia as Fabinho’s successor…?
