Liverpool is working to land a defensive midfielder after two players, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, left for Saudi Arabia. Names of midfielders from all over the world, not just Europe, have surfaced and disappeared.
One of the biggest names is Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia. Liverpool already had a first offer rejected for the 19-year-old youngster, who moved from Manchester City last summer and grabbed a regular spot in his first season with the club.
But a new offer is also likely to be played down because it has not reached the required amount, Fabrizio Romano has reported.
“Liverpool have submitted new bid for Roméo Lavia as expected — £42m fee.”
“Still no agreement with Southampton, it will be formally rejected soon as they insist on £50m asking price.”
“Negotiations remain ongoing.”
“Clubs remain in contact as Lavia wants the move.”

The Belgian midfielder, who is in pre-season with Southampton, does not want to play in the Championship and is aiming for a Premier League comeback. The defensive midfielder, who is also of interest to Chelsea, has no hesitation about the move.
Liverpool, who hope to sign him during the pre-season, want to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Can they bring the new Belgium prospect to Anfield as Fabinho’s successor?
