In the 2021/22 season, Portuguese midfielder Fabio Carvalho was a key player in attack for Fulham, who won the Championship. He came close to a move to Liverpool in the winter of the same season, but failed to meet the deadline and officially joined Anfield in the summer of 2022.
Having excelled up top at the London club, he struggled for playing time in Jurgen Klopp’s system, and after barely getting any game time in the second half of the 2022/23 season, he joined RB Leipzig on loan this summer in order to secure some playing time.
However, he has been unable to secure a regular position at his loan club and has spent most of his time warming the bench. He has played in 13 games so far, but most of them have been midway through the season.
Liverpool wants to end the loan for the player’s development, but Leipzig wants him to stay, according to Fabrizio Romano, an Italian journalist.
“RB Leipzig spoke to Liverpool again as they have expressed desire to keep Fabio Carvalho and have said he’s regarded highly.”
“Liverpool insist on his return from loan — as he’s a big part of future plans and gametime is most important, key factor for Fabio this season.”
