Former Fulham midfielder Fabio Carvalho joined Liverpool in the transfer market before last season because of his potential. He continued to show great flair in attack in the Championship, but struggled to cope in his first season with the club, where he was often used on the left wing, and was barely able to play in 2023.
In order to secure playing time at the top level without destroying his high potential, he chose to move to RB Leipzig on a one-year loan. However, he has yet to earn a starting spot at his new club, making 14 appearances so far, most of which have come from the middle of the park.
Liverpool are looking to terminate his loan spell and hope to bring him back to the team in January next year. According to The Mirror, the Portugal U-21 midfielder is open to returning to Fulham once his loan is up.
RB Leipzig do not want to let go of the former Fulham midfielder and are in talks with Liverpool to keep him at the club until next June, as originally planned.
At 21 years of age, he is expected to develop rapidly and needs to be on the pitch every weekend. However, Fulham manager Marco Silva is not keen on acquiring an attacking midfielder, and it seems unlikely that his old club will be interested in him.
