In the past, 22-year-old defender Rhys Williams has supported a center-back corps that has been plagued by injuries and showed great promise for the future.
Since then, however, he has had little first-team action, and last season he was loaned to Blackpool on a one-year deal, but was recalled in January 2023.
Something similar to last season is likely to happen again this season. The 22-year-old center back, who is currently on loan at Aberdeen, has been off the bench in the Scottish Premiership and has failed to make the pitch in the European Conference League.
According to Football Insider, Liverpool are considering canceling the loan move and are planning to recall him back to Anfield. They are also looking to end the loan of 26-year-old defender Nathaniel Phillips, who is also struggling for playing time.
Both have not gained enough experience on the pitch, and it is a natural step to end their loan spells.
In addition, with injuries to Joel Matip and Kostas Tsimikas, it would be beneficial to increase the number of center backs in order to use Joe Gomez at left back and other positions.
Will Liverpool ever sort out their loan players?
