Andy Robertson suffered an injury to his right shoulder in a match against Scotland and has decided to undergo surgery. Kostas Tsimikas, who has been a reserve left back and has been defending the same position ever since, is also out for an extended period of time with a broken collarbone.
It is an emergency situation, but although 26-year-old defender Joe Gomez, originally a center back, has filled the hole with outstanding performances, the team is still short of experienced players. Liverpool have recalled Wales U-21 defender Owen Beck, who was on loan at Dundee.
Robertson’s return is still a long way off, but he could be on loan again when the Scotland international returns. According to DaveOCKOP, two of Scotland’s leading clubs, Celtic and Rangers, are looking to take the player on loan.
He has been a mainstay of the team at Dundee, where he has been with the club for six months, and has scored two goals and assisted two in a total of 17 games in the Scottish Premiership.
He has also started three Scottish League Cup games and has become an integral part of the team’s left side.
Will the young side-back, who is gaining a growing reputation in Scotland, be able to establish himself in the first team at Anfield, or will he return to a place where he has a real sense of success…?
