Liverpool underwent a major reshuffling of its midfielders during last summer’s transfer window, letting go of longtime standouts such as Jordan Henderson and Fabinho and reinforcing its midfielders with players in their early 20s and midfielders such as Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
The reinforcements have paid off, and Liverpool, who have been involved in the race for the top of the table so far, have been rumored to acquire more defensive midfielders all summer.
However, those speculations have slowed down recently, and interest in the youngster who can play at the bottom of the midfield seems to have waned.
However, Liverpool may be looking at the position once again. According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool, along with Manchester United and Real Madrid, are interested in Argentinian U-23 midfielder Federico Redondo, who plays for Argentinos Juniors.
The big midfielder from Madrid brings a composure to the midfield that one would not expect from a 20-year-old, and while he is a muddy ball-winner defensively, he can also dribble up the field in attack, has an accurate passing game, and is capable of playing in the top flight.
At this point, it is unlikely that Liverpool will make any concrete moves for the player.
There is no doubt that he is one of the most promising young players in the world, but considering that he is from Madrid, a Spanish club, not just Real Madrid, would be his first choice.
