Former Brazilian international Roberto Firmino left Liverpool last summer to seek a new home in Saudi Arabia. When he decided to move to Al Ahli, he scored a hat trick in the club’s opening game and it looked like smooth sailing was about to begin.
However, he then failed to score a goal and was left out of the starting lineup. Dissatisfied with his playing time, the 32-year-old forward reportedly wants to leave the Saudi Professional League and has been rumored to return to England.
German Sky Sport Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has the exact opposite view, saying that the former Brazilian international is likely to stay at his current club and that it is unlikely that a European club will be able to pay the salary he would receive.
“News Roberto Firmino: Understand that he’s likely to stay at Al-Ahli in winter! As he also wants to stay”
“Under Matthias Jaissle, he currently faces challenges. He was only substituted in seven times recently.”
“Firmino’s contract is valid until 2026. His salary is currently not affordable for any club in Europe.”
