Jadon Sancho, a 23-year-old forward, was expected to be a winger for the future of the English national team at Borussia Dortmund, but continued to smolder at Manchester United with a lack of results. He expressed his dissatisfaction and was left out to dry at the club, returning to his old club on loan this winter.
The young forward, still highly regarded in the Bundesliga, has a chance to get his career back on German soil. Meanwhile, Christian Falk, a German journalist, wrote that Dutch international Donyell Malen, originally of Dortmund, may see a move.
“Sancho’s arrival would put a lot of pressure on Donyell Malen. He could be sold immediately,”
“There was an idea of a swap deal with Manchester United for Sancho – they didn’t go for it.”
“But if there is an offer coming from the Premier League for Malen, Dortmund will be open to talks.”
CaughtOffside
Liverpool had also been interested in the Dutch winger in the summer of 2021, when he joined Dortmund from PSV Eindhoven, and he has recently been mentioned as a potential successor to Mohamed Salah, who has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.
He has scored 25 goals and provided 16 assists in 96 games for the club, and has made 15 appearances in the domestic league this season, starting 11 of them. He has also had plenty of experience in the Champions League, both during his time at Eredivisie.
At this point, it is unlikely that Liverpool will ever again have a strong interest in the 24-year-old forward, and a left-handed player would be a good replacement for the Egyptian winger. The odds are not zero, but if he were to land at Anfield, it would be an unexpected turn of events.
So what will be the departure of the shaky Donyell Malen…?
