Liverpool succeeded in making major changes in the midfield during last summer’s transfer window. The average age of the team has been rejuvenated, the midfield has regained the athleticism that was lost last season, and the team is now competing for the top spot in the Premier League at the turn of the season.
Liverpool is also winning the Europa League and cup competitions, and even with the increase in injuries, the reserves and young players are making up for the absence of the regulars.
It is expected that the injured players will start to return and the squad will be ready for the second half of the season.
In his playing days, he played for Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur, and although he failed to make his presence felt at Liverpool, where he moved to in 2008, former Ireland international Robbie Keane mentioned the title potential of his old club and praised the Uruguayan striker’s ability, among other things.
“I think Liverpool have the staying power to win the Premier League.”
“I thought a lot of the new players they bought in the summer would take time to gel, but they’ve settled in well and they’re managing to win games both in the Premier League and in the cups.”
“Mo Salah is obviously a big loss and, no question, he’s hard to replace, but I think Liverpool can maintain their momentum with the forward players they still have.”
“Diogo Jota coming back is a big plus for them, and I really like Darwin Nunez. I think he can be a really good player for Liverpool.”
“Of course, he needs to improve in terms of his number of goals, but you can see the fans really respond to his energy and work rate.”
“As a striker, you’re judged on scoring goals, but I’m sure that will come because he’s got everything. He’s big, he’s strong and he’s got pace.”
