Egyptian international Mohamed Salah continues to score numerous goals and assists for Liverpool this season, and has earned the title of Egyptian King.
Last summer, he was the subject of a hot bid from Saudi Arabia, and it is rumored that they are preparing a big-money offer for him this summer as well, with unfathomable funds behind him.
The right winger will turn 32 in June 2024, but no one has emerged to take his place. While Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, and Cody Gakpo are all capable players, they have not developed into forwards with as much presence as the former Roma forward.
While the name of the left-handed winger, who primarily plays on the right wing, has been reported, there has recently begun to be talk of a contract extension that would tie him to the club until June 2025.
David Lynch, a British journalist, noted the speculation surrounding Salah. He said that young attackers such as Michael Olise and Crysencio Summerville have shown interest, but he argued that the money would be better spent on extending the Egyptian forward’s contract.
“The idea I’m getting from sources I’m speaking to at Liverpool, they feel they’re well stocked in the forward area,”
“Olise I’ve no doubt is someone they’re looking at and Summerville with the numbers he’s putting up recently I think he would be someone that fits the profile. Both aged 22 as well.”
“But it’s all about whether Liverpool will actually need someone and I don’t think at the moment they would say that they do, particularly if they’ve got a chance to keep Salah. If they can pour more money into giving him a couple more years on a contract extension to keep him, I think that is a better route to go down then maybe investing in the forward line.”
