England defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has been a fixture at right back for Liverpool since he was a teenager and is now one of the best side backs in the world, has also been playing as a midfielder since last season and is increasingly used in the national team.
His reserve, Northern Ireland defender Conor Bradley, has been impressive and is in the hunt for a regular spot at right back, and if new coach Xabi Alonso is born, he is likely to extend his tentacles to Dutch defender Jeremy Frimpong, also of Bayer Leverkusen. He is a former member of the Manchester City academy.
When asked about a move to Liverpool, the 23-year-old defender, a former member of Manchester City’s academy, acknowledged the club’s history and achievements, but was positive about his first challenge in the Premier League.
“Liverpool? Great club, with history. That would be great. Who knows what the future will bring.”
