Argentine midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, who moved to Brighton from Argentinos Juniors in 2019, made the step up within the Premier League last summer, joining Liverpool.
The 25-year-old midfielder, who has continued to perform admirably in the depths of midfield and as an inside-half amidst a string of injuries, had previously played for his native powerhouse club Boca Juniors, albeit for only six months, during his time at Brighton.
Despite his short stint, he seems open to a return to the club. However, he said he cannot promise a return to Boca Juniors at this stage, as he is unsure what will happen with his European career set to continue.
“I don’t like to promise that I will return because the reality is that there is still a long way to go, but anything can happen. Obviously the desire is there, I am eager, especially because my time in Boca was very short and I would have liked to be there more, but time will tell if I have that possibility and they give it to me.”

It is only his first year at Liverpool and he is only 25 years old. He has more than five years to play at the top level in Europe and, as he has stressed, he is not returning to Argentina right now.
However, it is a great club for Argentinians and no doubt a pleasure for anyone to play for, but does Mac Allister really have a future playing back in his home country after the age of 30…?
