Sporting’s Ruben Amorim has emerged as one of the favourites to succeed Jurgen Klopp in place of Xabi Alonso, who has decided to stay at Bayer Leverkusen, with the 39-year-old in charge coming close to winning the domestic league with a head-to-head win over Benfica.
The possibility of leaving Portugal with that title as a souvenir is growing by the day. Portuguese journalist Pedro Sepúlveda reported that the manager’s agent and Liverpool will hold a meeting this Monday to finalise the final part of the contract.
“A meeting between Rúben Amorim’s agent and Liverpool is scheduled for this Monday to negotiate the final terms of the Portuguese coach’s contract.”
“Sporting is not looking for a new coach yet. Liverpool haven’t contact the Portuguese team yet.”
