Liverpool strengthened their midfield during last summer’s transfer window, so there is no reason to spend more this summer. And as the future of the German national team is a big one with a high transfer fee, centre-backs and forwards are seen as key reinforcements, and it is not clear whether there will be any money left over for a midfielder.
While it is unlikely that Liverpool will actually make a move for the player, there has been some movement in the battle for him. According to The Independent, Manchester City are leading the race for the player, ahead of Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
Manchester City, who are rumoured to be interested in West Ham United midfielder Lucas Pacheta, are targeting the attacking midfielder and are also apparently prepared to pay big money for the 21-year-old Stuttgart international.
