Liverpool had various directors on their list of people to replace Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, including Xabi Alonso, Ruben Amorim and Robert de Zerbi, but time passed without any concrete moves being made.
Then, suddenly, the name of a major contender emerged at the forefront. Arne Slot, the Dutchman in charge of Feyenoord. He led his team to the Eredivisie title last season and has brought them the Dutch Cup title this season, although they are only second in the domestic league.
And Liverpool are showing a positive attitude. According to The Athletic, the Reds made an initial offer of €9 million to bring in the manager, but the Dutch club rejected the offer. However, negotiations appear to be ongoing.
As well as approaching the club, they have also contacted the manager himself. Discussions have also been held with the 45-year-old manager, who is keen to take charge on Merseyside.
The process of calling for a new manager has not been completed, as several other candidates remain. At the moment, however, Slot is the most likely candidate and is the subject of worldwide attention.
Will Liverpool be successful in signing Slot as their next manager?
