Only £13m...Liverpool's chance to land French midfielder Khéphren Thuram Transfers

After the departure of key midfielders such as Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, Liverpool acquired four new midfielders in the transfer market last summer, including Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

One of the leading candidates at the time was French midfielder Khéphren Thuram, who plays for Nice. In addition to his excellent physique, he also has the athleticism to cover the entire pitch. He comes from a super-elite family, with his father and brother also representing France.

According to The Mirror, Liverpool have the opportunity to sign the player for just £13 million this summer, and he could be on his first challenge in the Premier League in over a year.

The 23-year-old midfielder, who is under contract until June 2025, has made 25 appearances in Ligue 1 this season despite thigh and knee injuries, and has steadily stepped up his game, making his debut for France in March 2023.

However, until tiring towards the end of the season, one of the best midfielders in the Premier League functioned well enough to keep them in contention to win not only the Carabao Cup, but also the domestic league, Europa League and FA Cup.

The priority reinforcement positions this summer are centre-backs and attackers, and it is not clear how much budget will be allocated, however cheap. Thiago Alcántara is leaving, but there are some promising youngsters in the pipeline, so there is not much urgency.

In addition, Trent Alexander-Arnold is constantly rumoured to be converted, and if he slides into midfield in earnest, we will have enough squad.

Things have changed since last summer, but will Liverpool still keep the heat on the French midfielder…?
