Irish goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher has been the subject of interest from several clubs since last summer, and the goalkeeper who is second best at Liverpool has become a popular brand in this winter transfer window, with an offer from Nottingham Forest.
Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker is Liverpool’s reigning guardian deity, making it difficult for him to protect the goalmouth, except during periods when he is out injured. The Cork-born goalkeeper, who is now 25 years old and wants a regular place in the team, is ready to move to a different club this summer, according to Football Insider.
This season, he has made 26 appearances throughout the Premier League and Europa League, helping his side win the Carabao Cup, partly due to Alisson’s injury. He performed with great consistency and made some god-awful saves in a pinch.
His appearances at Anfield have been limited to 47 games, and given that he is a player in his mid-20s, his desire is to get more playing time. As a professional footballer, it is natural for him to want more opportunities and there is no surprise that he has volunteered to move on.
He has also made 12 appearances for Ireland and will be keen to find a new home at a club that will guarantee him a starting place in the country’s full squad.
Whether Nottingham Forest will continue their interest is not known, but what will the future hold for the Liverpool goalkeeper, whose movements are also being watched by Celtic from Scotland…?
