Adam Lallana, who said goodbye to Brighton at the end of the season, is close to returning to Southampton Transfers

After a spell in Southampton’s lower divisions, he was promoted to the first team in 2006. As he developed his skills at the south of England club, he grew into a player who was also selected for the England national team and secured a move to Liverpool in the summer of 2014.

Although he was often injured at Anfield and did not have a satisfactory career, he scored 22 goals and provided 22 assists in 178 games in total and was loved by his teammates, coaches and supporters for his style of play and character.

In the summer of 2020, his contract expired and he sought a new home at Brighton. It was thought that he would continue at Brighton as a coach or similar, but he left the team at the same time as Roberto De Zerbi this summer.

With all eyes on the player’s departure, The Telegraph reported that he is likely to move to Southampton, who won promotion to the Premier League after winning the play-offs.

The veteran midfielder can play in a variety of attacking midfield positions. Although he still struggles with an injury habit, the impression cannot be removed that he can bring the experience he has gained in his career to the team and create a positive cycle for the development of young players.

Southampton are set to buy 22-year-old defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis from Manchester City following their promotion to the top flight. The former England midfielder, who has plenty of experience in the league, could be a great asset for the club to compete in the Premier League.

Lallana has also travelled to the Championship play-off final, but will he return to his old club for the first time since the summer of 2014…?
