After losing the sparkle of his Ajax days and finding himself on the bench at Bayern Munich, Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch made the move to Liverpool, who strengthened their midfield, just before the transfer market deadline last summer.
He spent a year in England and, although he has not been a regular, he has put in certain performances in the Europa League. He also scored his first goal in the Premier League towards the end of the season, and has become accustomed to the team’s style of play and the fast-transitional nature of the game.
The 22-year-old midfielder is expected to play an even bigger role in his second season with the club, and AC Milan, who have been interested in him for some time, are keen to take a chance on him and have held discussions with his agent about a possible deal, according to Calciomercato.
However, it is reported that this does not seem realistic against the backdrop of financial reasons and that the Italian club is unlikely to make a serious move.
He has top-class ability compared to his peers, with deep dribbling and passing using his long arms and legs, and a slick positioning up front. He needs to improve his pressing and his goal scoring in the future.
Liverpool have been interested in him since his time at Ajax, and with fellow countryman Arne Slott in charge, the positives for next season are all there. There is no reason to give up on him after just one year and he will continue to strive to become a legend at Anfield…
