Dutch defender Lutsharel Geertruida has grown up at Feyenoord since 2016 and has made close to 200 appearances for the first team. He can play mainly at right-back, but also as a centre-back and defensive midfielder, and is increasingly likely to step up in the transfer market this summer.
According to ADSportwereld, the player is expected to become a popular name, with four other clubs besides Liverpool – Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and West Ham United – keeping an eye on his movements.
Liverpool have a good right-back line-up, including England defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, with the emergence of Northern Ireland defender Conor Bradley and the return of Joe Gomez.
However, Trent could be converted to midfield, while Gomez can also play at centre-back or left-back, so there is a crying need to secure a right-sided specialist, who may be available in the transfer market this summer.
Furthermore, he and new manager Arne Slott have worked together in the same team so far this season and understand each other’s style of play and character. As a coach, it must be reassuring to have a player who understands your ideas.
It is never easy to acquire a player, but will Liverpool continue to focus on the Dutch defender…?
