Liverpool demand £40 million for the sale of Caoimhin Kelleher, double the expected amount Transfers

Ireland goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher is a consistent performer when he is on the pitch, despite being a reserve for Alison Becker. Last season, he made 26 appearances throughout the Premier League and Europa League, partly due to an injury to the Brazilian goalkeeper.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper is good enough to start in England’s top flight, but transfer rumours fly whenever the transfer market opens, and Nottingham Forest made an offer for him this winter.

Liverpool rejected that offer, but are prepared to accept an offer in this summer’s transfer window. However, the demand could be as high as £40 million, double the £20 million originally envisaged, The Mirror reported.

Even under new manager Arne Slot, it will be extremely difficult to win a regular place in the team. The player himself is said to be considering a move to a new club in order to get more playing time, and reports are heating up.

No specific clubs have been named, but it would not be surprising to see interest from the Premier League.

For a 25-year-old goalkeeper who has not played all season, £40 million seems too much. The reason behind this is Liverpool’s reluctance to let him go, but that said, they would not reject all attractive offers and would be willing to sell him depending on the price.

Even £20 million feels a little expensive, but will the Irish goalkeeper end up playing for a new club, or will he be at Anfield for longer…?
