Belgian international Johan Bakayoko, Dutch U-21 international Crysencio Summerville, Wolves winger Pedro Neto…Liverpool, who are looking to breathe new life into their forward line-up, are interested in young attackers with a proven track record in Europe.
And a new name has been added to that list. According to Fichajes, Liverpool are open to acquiring London-born Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman and could present a formal offer this summer.
A career that has also seen him play for Everton, Fulham and Leicester City, the Londoner has also made 96 Premier League appearances, scoring 11 goals and assisting 6. In the summer of 2022, he moved to Atalanta, where he has put up impressive numbers for the Italian club, scoring 32 goals and assisting 18 in 78 appearances in total.
Last season, he played in a variety of positions, including second striker, centre forward, left winger and attacking midfielder, showing his utility up front while leading the attack with 17 goals and 10 assists.
He was also a major contributor to the Europa League win, and showed his class by scoring a hat-trick in the final against Bayer Leverkusen.
Originally from Charlton’s lower divisions, English football underpins his backbone and he should be able to adapt to speedy football.
The example of Mohamed Salah, the Egyptian international who became a world-class striker as a result of his experience in Italy, is also a good example.
Will Liverpool’s efforts to strengthen their front line lead them to pull out of the Europa League champions…?
