The Jurgen Klopp era has come to an end and Liverpool are moving into a new era with new manager Arne Slot. In addition to their ageing centre-backs, they are looking to shore up their attackers and are expected to make reinforcements in the summer transfer window.
One of the reported targets is 25-year-old Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze. He has played 124 games for Selhurst Park, scoring 26 goals and providing 17 assists, and is a key player in the team.
According to The Times, Tottenham Hotspur are serious about the England midfielder, who leads Crystal Palace’s attack, and are leading the battle for him. It also reports that the release clause on his contract is set at £60 million.
Although he has yet to shine for the national team, his performances in London have been spectacular. He does not lose the ball easily, is able to hold up under intense pressing and can make decisive passes.
He can also score goals from free kicks and is recognised as one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League.
He would certainly be a useful asset for Liverpool, but there are many players who play mainly at inside half or on the left wing, and it is questionable whether the club should invest money, which is by no means plentiful.
The top priority is a right winger who could replace Mohamed Salah, and it must be said that reinforcements are a low priority.
It is unlikely that the Reds would willingly offer £60 million for him, and a move within London is likely at the moment. Will the England attacking midfielder really step up this summer…?
