The battle for Joshua Kimmich is dominated by Liverpool, who can offer a higher salary than Barcelona Transfers

Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich has refused to renew his contract with his club and his contract expires in June 2025. The club are increasingly likely to let go of the German midfielder in exchange for €30 million, as he will leave the club on a free transfer next year unless he is sold this summer.

In addition to the Premier League’s top clubs, Barcelona are also in full swing to acquire the 29-year-old midfielder, but Liverpool have the upper hand in the battle as they can offer a higher salary than the financially struggling Spanish club, reports Spanish newspaper Sport.

The player, who moved to Allianz Arena after spells at Stuttgart and RB Leipzig, has scored 42 goals and 104 assists in 390 games. He has also pitched for the German national team in 90 games and has made a significant contribution to the team with his utility.

New manager Hange Flick wants to work with the defensive midfielder, who won the Champions League together at Bayern Munich, and is looking to take him at this time when the transfer fee is cheaper.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are said to be looking for a player at the bottom of midfield who can compete regularly with Japan midfielder Wataru Endo, who is over 30 years old, and Stefan Vicetić, who was plagued by injury last season, and a number of names have been floated.

Argentine midfielder Alexis Mac Allister can also play, but based on his aptitude, he should be kept closer to the front line. In recent years, England defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has also been rumoured to be converted, and it remains to be seen how he will be selected under new manager Arne Slott.

Will Liverpool really land an experienced and dexterous German midfielder…?
