The Jurgen Klopp regime has come to an end and Liverpool are moving into a new era with new manager Arne Slot. The coaching staff has also undergone a major reshuffle, with key German coaches leaving and the Dutchman beginning to attract a team of coaches he trusts.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool have brought in Aaron Briggs, a past analyst and coach at Manchester City, to fill the position left vacant by the departure of Vitor Matos. He will play a key role as a link between the academy and the first team.

And there may be a new Dutchman joining the new slotting system. Former Dutch defender Johnny Heitinga, who was assistant coach at West Ham until last season, said he had been approached by Liverpool and was in talks with his agent.

“The only thing I can say now is that I have been approached and that my agent Rob Jansen and I are in talks.”

During his working career, he also played in the Premier League for Everton and Fulham.

After retiring from active football, he gained coaching experience, mainly in the Ajax academy, and was appointed interim manager of the club in 2023.

From September 2023, he was David Moyes’ right-hand man at the London club for one season.

Heitinga is also currently on a free transfer, as the former Everton manager has left the team. He has not had a remarkable run of results at West Ham, but will the former Dutch international centre-back sign for a rival team on Merseyside…?
