€20m asking price is too high...Sepp van den Berg and his management are not happy Transfers

He made 35 appearances for loan club Mainz last season. The 22-year-old Dutch defender Sepp van den Berg has attracted interest from outside Germany after performing well within the Bundesliga.

Since joining Liverpool, he has only made four first-team appearances and has spent most of his time in the Championship and Bundesliga. To get out of loan hell, the player wants to leave the club this summer, but new manager Arne Slot, a fellow countryman, is looking to him as a replacement for Joel Matip.

Liverpool are also demanding €20 million from the clubs that are trying to acquire him. Interested clubs such as Mainz, Wolfsburg and PSV Eindhoven are hesitant about the asking amount and are wondering whether to offer the player, who is under contract for two years until June 2026.

According to Dutch newspaper Voetbal International, the player himself and his management company are aware that the amount his club wants is disproportionate and that a significant reduction in price will be necessary.

Liverpool are unlikely to accept a price reduction at the moment, due to the potential he has shown in Germany, as well as the trust of manager Slot. The situation should change depending on their performances in pre-season and whether they can get a new centre-back.

Liverpool would prefer a club willing to pay the asking price if they are to let him go, but will they appear…?
