Caoimhin Kelleher reveals the start of the new Arne Slot regime and his days at the club since he was 16 Career

Jurgen Klopp has left Anfield and Liverpool have a new manager in Arne Slott, the Dutchman who led Feyenoord. While a new era is dawning, the manager’s skills will be tested.

Alisson Becker’s reserve goalkeeperCaoimhin Kelleher has been involved in training since the first day of pre-season. There has been a reshuffle of the coaching staff, so there should be a somewhat different training regime in place, and some of the players who did not get a chance under the German may get a chance to play.

The Irish goalkeeper has responded well to training so far, revealing the 45-year-old’s communication skills. He also mentioned that he is enjoying his training days.

“It’s been really good, really enjoyable,”

“Obviously the first few days were just testing and stuff, then we got into the actual training sessions, which have been really good.”

“[Slot] has been excellent so far. A lot of detail to what he wants us to do, there’s a lot of stuff to take onboard but he gets his messages across really well and easy to understand as well, which is helpful. His sessions are intense and he pushes us, which is always good.”

“It has been really enjoyable so far, I must say.”

Since joining Liverpool at the age of 16, his time at Anfield has now been almost a decade, and at the age of 25 he is by no means getting the playing time he deserves due to the thick wall of Brazilian goalkeepers.

With rumours of a move this summer, he does not want to lose two goalkeepers at the same time, as third-choice goalkeeper Adrián has already left the team.

While the possibility of ending his nine-year stint with the club cannot be ruled out, the player touched on his time in the academy and first team since the age of 16, saying he has enjoyed every minute.

“It’s obviously been such a long time now since I came over when I was 16. Time flies, I’ve enjoyed every minute here, to be fair,”

“I just want to try to keep going and going on that upward trajectory. It’s been really enjoyable and I’m looking to push on.”
