After joining Liverpool from Southampton, Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk transformed a team that often conceded goals as a defensive leader, forming a solid defensive line-up with Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker and others.
Still at the forefront at the age of 33, he wrapped the captain’s mark around his country’s full national team at EURO 2024 and led the final line. He is still a threat from corner kicks and free kicks and will continue to be a leader for club and national team.
However, he is not without concerns. His contract with Liverpool is coming up in June 2025 and negotiations for a contract renewal will take place this summer.
Fabrizio Romano, an expert on the transfer market, said that the situation with the Dutch defender during his holiday is still quiet and that nothing will move until he returns to England.
