Barış Yılmaz, a 24-year-old forward who played for Turkey in EURO 2024, performed well during the tournament and quickly became a popular brand name in this summer’s transfer market.
Liverpool have made a serious move for the 24-year-old forward, who is under contract at Galatasaray until June 2027, and have made an offer of €30 million for the player, Turkish newspaper Ajanspor reported.
The versatile attacker, who can play anywhere up front, as a centre-forward or on the left or right wing, showed his strong physicality and speed in the match against the Dutch side, where he battled brilliantly with Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk.
The Turkish international, who can also act as a right winger, is a good candidate for Liverpool’s search for a potential successor to Egyptian international Mohamed Salah.
Ideally, however, they would prefer a left-winger rather than a right-winger, who can also cut in from the right wing, and it seems unlikely that this move will happen.
Will the Rize-born winger, who has also played in the Champions League and Europa League, join Liverpool in a way he never thought he would…?
