Happiest I've ever been...Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones is a stickler for the new Arne Slot regime Team

Born in his hometown of Liverpool, 23-year-old midfielder Curtis Jones was promoted to the first team after coming through the academy.

His talent was recognised by manager Jurgen Klopp, and he has been with the first team since he was a teenager, and although he has not been an absolute regular, he has been on the pitch in many games.

He has made 133 appearances for Anfield, scoring 16 goals and providing 14 assists. The new season will be a big change for the player and he will play under manager Arne Slot. He will also become the second first team coach in his career.

The former England U-21 midfielder, who has been involved in pre-season from day one and has been under the Dutch coach’s guidance, said he feels comfortable with the Slot regime and that it suits his style of play. He also revealed that he feels happy with the smooth sailing so far.

“He’s amazing, actually,”

“I’ve said it a lot, it’s probably the happiest I’ve been in terms of a style of play that suits me and the lads that we have in our team, it’s a clear plan.”

“In the training stuff, he is fully involved, he coaches us a lot, he is big on the finer details in things.”

“He has a certain way of playing and he knows it is going to take a little bit of time because it is obviously a big change.”

“He and his staff are chilled about it and they know that the quality is all there.”

“We have still got lads who are coming back as well, so it’ll be a step up again.”

“It is the happiest I’ve ever been, I’d say.”

“It’s always been a hard time. I came around the team as a young lad, I always had a way of playing and the team I was coming around, I had to adapt [to], I had to change. But that was part of the plan. It wasn’t anything I couldn’t do, but I just feel now this is more me.”

“I can get on the ball more, I can do me more, so I am excited.”

At 23 years of age, it is time for him to prove his true worth in a career that is beginning to move from young to midfield.

Harvey Elliott played a game-changing role in the middle of the park last season, and the other midfielders have shown their ability in their own right.

The new season will be a challenge to appeal to new manager Slot and to build a long career at Liverpool, but the real question is whether he can evolve into a local star player alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold with a dominant performance.
