Gary McAllister explains the 'transformation' of 21-year-old defender Conor Bradley, a breakthrough player last season Hot Prospect

After a spell with Bolton Wanderers, 21-year-old defender Conor Bradley made his big breakthrough last season as a reserve for England defender Trent Alexander-Arnold.

His performance against Chelsea at Anfield was outstanding, with one goal and two assists.

Towards the end of the season he began to tire in an unfamiliar first team position, but he showed his potential. He has also performed well in pre-season with new manager Arne Slot and will take on the challenge of vice-captain of the team in earnest.

Former Scotland midfielder Gary McAllister, who played for Liverpool and Leeds United as a player, revealed that he had spoken to the young right-back in person, but also gave his impressions of the young right-back up close, saying that his body had changed.

“We spoke to him at the training, visually he just totally looks different,”

“He’s still marauding forward but he’s grown into his body, he’s filling out and looking strong and quick.”

The defender, who has a strong presence in both attack and defence with his intense up-and-down movement, positions himself like a winger in attack and continues to create chances from the right flank. The demands may be different from those under Jurgen Klopp, and adaptation to the new regime is inevitable.

After being out injured for the first half of last season, will he be able to play the whole season and become one of the best right-backs in England this season…?
