Colombian international Luis Diaz was injury-free last season and played well throughout the year.As Liverpool’s indispensable left winger, Diaz had impressive figures last season with 13 goals and five assists in 51 games, but this season he has been asked to improve his decision-making in front of goal.
After three games so far in the Premier League, the 27-year-old winger is putting in the kind of performances that will help him overcome his issues. He scored his first goal in the second game against Brentford and then scored two goals in the big game against Manchester United to lead his team to victory.
Barcelona are also interested in the South American attacker, but manager Arne Slot has recognised him as an essential player for the team and the Dutchman is keen to offer him a new contract, according to TBR Football.
Diaz’s agent also continues to press for a new contract in order to earn one of the highest salaries in the team. The former Porto forward, who remains under contract until June 2027, has been under pressure from the club this year, with the player appealing for improved contract terms.
The Colombian attacker, with his unique dribbling rhythm, is also a committed player and does not slack off in defence, returning and defending with his left-back to contain opposition attacks.
With the departure of Egyptian international Mohamed Salah still uncertain, it would be no surprise if a review of his contract is carried out soon, as the club would not want to let go of a player who can be counted on and is expected to be a regular contender next season and beyond.
With Salah, as well as Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold in talks to sign new contracts, will Liverpool offer the 27-year-old winger a new contract with improved terms?
