With the appointment of Arne Slot as manager, Liverpool made some changes to their style of play and planned to strengthen the defensive midfielders in their core. In the summer transfer window, they came close to acquiring Real Sociedad’s Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi, but the player ultimately rejected the move.

With Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch performing well, Liverpool are still in search of a player who can handle the depth in midfield and will reportedly look to make another move this winter or next summer, but are also looking at attacking midfielders.

According to CaughtOffside, Liverpool are increasing their interest in German midfielder Jamal Musiala, who has a contract with Bayern Munich until June 2026, and could compete with Manchester City, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. Apparently.

The 21-year-old midfielder, who has spent time in the academies of Southampton and Chelsea and has also played for England U-21s, has developed into a world-class player at Bayern. He has so far scored 44 goals and assisted 31 in 166 games, an impressive tally, and has also scored six goals in 36 games for the German national team.

His club is keen to sign a new contract, but if time continues to progress at this rate, next summer will be the final year of his contract and the transfer speculation will heat up even more.

At the moment, nothing has been decided yet, so it cannot be ruled out that the young German midfielder’s feelings may change, depending on what the strongest clubs in Europe do.

The problem, however, is the transfer fee. Bayern are reportedly demanding a whopping €180 million, making him a target that Liverpool cannot afford, and only City, Madrid or PSG could make a move for him.

Will Liverpool be serious about spending a lot of money to secure the German national team’s main midfielder?
