Liverpool’s successful dash to the start of the Premier League season saw them win three in a row with a clean sheet. However, after the international break, they came up short against Nottingham Forest, where they were dispirited and saw their opponents snatch the ‘three’ points from them.
Liverpool looked to bounce back from the weekend and scored three goals in their Champions League opener against AC Milan, despite conceding the first, to secure a whitewash on the road.
Leading the defenders and captaining the team, Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk contributed to the victory in attack, scoring the winner with a header in the game.
Despite a good start in the tournament, which has been transformed by the new format, the 33-year-old centre-back is keeping his nerve.
