Former Cameroon defender Joel Matip left Anfield at the end of last season. Returning to the England squad, 27-year-old defender Joe Gomez has interest from Newcastle United and Aston Villa, and his departure beyond next season is uncertain.
Furthermore, Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk is 33 years old and there has been no progress on contract renewal talks, while the departure of the mainstay of the final line remains ambiguous. Liverpool are looking to secure a new centre-back, including a generational change.
According to Rudi Galetti (Italian journalist), Liverpool and Manchester United are continuously interested in Juventus defender Gleison Bremer, and have reportedly intensified their interest based on his best performances this season.
“Bremer continues to attract interest from top Premier League clubs.”
“Both Manchester United and Liverpool intensified their attention thanks to his outstanding performances this season with Juventus [all 540′ played in 6 matches, 0 goals conceded, 1st among CBs in SerieA for tackles].”

However, he will be 28 next March and is unlikely to be considered as a long-term successor. He has also suffered a serious injury, rupturing a cruciate ligament, which has doomed him for the season.
A good start to the season was lost and next year will be a season for Juventus to recover from the aftereffects of the serious injury and regain his condition.
He is under contract until June 2029 and will require a significant fee in the transfer market next summer, making him an unlikely target for the Reds.
So who will Liverpool bring in to the next generation of centre-backs…?
