Fixed at the bottom of midfield following the appointment of Arne Slot as manager, Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch has continued his phenomenal performances since the start of the Premier League season.

He has provided dynamic movement to the midfielders and a good balance between attack and defence.

The 22-year-old midfielder, who moved to Liverpool from Bayern Munich last summer, had a disappointing time in the Bundesliga. Most of his appearances came from the middle of the park and he failed to shine during his time at Ajax, so he went to England to try and break the deadlock.

Current Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann, who led Bayern Munich at the time, said it was difficult to relegate the midfield duo, who were regulars in the German national team, to the bench and explained why they did not get more starts.

“He’s doing perfectly. But I expected this development because Ryan is a smart guy and a brilliant player,”

“It was complicated for him at the time because we had Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka in midfield.”

“I was the new coach at FC Bayern and it wasn’t easy to put players from the German national team on the bench.”

“For Ryan, it was a new situation that he had to get used to because he had almost always played from the start at Ajax before.”
